Oklahoma IWW Statement of Solidarity with #YesAllDaughters

Mon, 11/24/2014 - 00:30
Students at Norman High School in Norman, Oklahoma will walk out of their classes at 9:20 A.M. on Monday, November 24th, 2014 to be greeted by hundreds of activists and supporters boldly standing with them in solidarity.

As a union committed to the abolition of patriarchy and all forms of exploitation, the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) stands with these students in solidarity and will be represented at the walkout. Christophe Parsons, a delegate for the Oklahoma IWW, was part of the core group of organizers. Parsons said, "Both as a friend of the survivor and as a revolutionary unionist committed to building a new world, inaction was not an option. I am proud of my fellow students and community supporters who have rallied around these girls, and I am proud of my union, which has showed incredible solidarity and support in organizing this event."

The Emanci-funktion of the Working Class

Fri, 11/14/2014 - 22:41
Starting a conversation on anarchism and hip hop
In this essay, I'm trying to get the ball rolling on a longer-term discussion on the political nature of hip hop from a revolutionary anarchist perspective. I'm hoping for a broad range of responses from artists and militants, which will allow us to swap notes and build up our respective movements.

A Response to Rojava: An anarcho-syndicalist perspective

Fri, 11/14/2014 - 07:49
We are not fortunetellers, we can't possibly know what will happen in Rojava a month or a year from now. We can't know that this social transformation which not only gives us hope as revolutionaries that struggle in a geographically close region, but also feeds our struggle in the regions that we struggle in, would move towards a positive or negative future. But we are revolutionary anarchists. We can't just sit aside, watch what's happening and comment; we take part in social struggles and take action for an anarchist revolution.

Could a Revolution Happen in the US?

Thu, 11/13/2014 - 08:21
Will a Revolution Happen in the US in Time?
Why hasn't there been more rebellion in the US lately? What are the indications that a popular movement may develop which leads to revolution? What is meant by revolution, anyway?

Palestine-Israel - the joint struggle in turbulent times.*

Mon, 11/10/2014 - 15:03
The popular unarmed struggle of Palestinian communities joined by the Israeli Anarchists Against the Wall and others is not a struggle for the "national liberation" or "self determination" of the Palestinian nation. It is the struggle of Palestinian people, of which the overwhelming majority are working people, against the threat of transfer and the suppression and exploitation by the Israeli Zionist settler colonialist project. None of those involved in the struggle who are not in the Palestinian elite have illusions about the Palestinian elite and the state they will rule and manage after the end of the occupation. None of those involved in the struggle believe that the end of the direct occupation will solve the 1948 Nakba and the refugee problems. However, they still prefer the end of the occupation and independence from Israel, over direct Israeli rule, as it will not be an agent of transfer or of such brutal suppression and exploitation. Rojava: Fantasies and Realities

Sat, 11/08/2014 - 04:33
The Kobane resistance that has passed its 45th day as of now has caused the attention of revolutionaries all over the world to turn to Rojava. As a result of the work carried out by Revolutionary Anarchist Action (DAF), anarchist comrades from many parts of the world have sent messages of solidarity to the Kobane resistance.(1) This internationalist stance without a doubt carries great importance for the people resisting in Kobane. However if we do not analyze what is happening in all its truth and if we romanticize instead, our dreams will turn to disappointment in short order.

Appeal to support Ilya Romanov

Sat, 11/08/2014 - 03:34
Dear friends! We ask you to support Ilya Romanov, Russian anarchist accused of 'terrorism', who has already spent a year in prison. ABC-Moscow included him in the list of anarchist political prisoners.

On 26 October 2013 46-year-old anarchist Ilya Romanov was wounded in the city of Nizhnii Novgorod. The explosion which occurred late at night severely injured his left hand and burned his face. Ilya was taken to hospital where doctors amputated his arm. Romanov explained to the police that he unwarily used a pyrotechnic device. In December 2013 Romanov was charged with Article 205 and Article 30 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation ("attempt to commit a terrorist attack").

An Anarchist Communist Reply to ‘Rojava: An Anarcho-Syndicalist Perspective’

Sat, 11/01/2014 - 09:37
This text is a response to the article http://www.anarkismo.net/article/27509 by K. B., recently published on the Ideas and Action website of the North America-based Workers Solidarity Alliance (WSA). In the article, there is an attack on the Rojava revolution in the Middle East, an event in which the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) has played a key role. This response is not published in bad faith or with ill intentions towards the writer or their organisation but, rather, in order to clarify and share our thinking regards the question of anarchist support both for national liberation movements and what is, for us, a very important and inspiring struggle playing out in the Middle East. The aim is to have a frank, and comradely, debate that takes us all forward. [http://www.anarkismo.net/article/27648]

An Interview with the DAF on Kobanê: “We are Kawa against Dehaks”

Mon, 10/27/2014 - 13:35
For two years now the foundations of social revolution have been being developed in Rojava, the west of Kurdistan. Bearing this, it’s hard to ignore the fact that the basis of the attacks against Kobanê is the interest politics of the Turkish State and global capitalism. Abdülmelik Yalcin and Merve Dilber from Revolutionary Anarchist Action (DAF) were in the region of Suruc, on the border with Kobanê, since the first day of the resistance against the attempts to obscure the people’s revolution, in solidarity with the people of the region. We interviewed them on the Kobanê Resistance and Rojava Revolution. [http://www.anarkismo.net/article/27574]
